RADICAL LOVE: Friendship
“To love well is the task in all meaningful relationships, not just romantic bonds.”
bell hooks
This quote reminds me to stay open and giving with all my relationships, especially my friendships. As I get older I want to express my love more to my friends, by saying it more, by being more present and making sure they know I am there for them.
Billie Iveson
This quote resonates with me because it highlights how love is about effort and care in every relationship, not just romance. It’s a reminder to value the love in friendships and other relationship connections too.
Michelle Lin
This quote reminds me of my resolution this year to pour into my friendships more. My community has been such a safe haven for me, I want to make sure I can return the love, care, and support I receive daily from them.

“The choice to love is a choice to connect — to find ourselves in the other.”
bell hooks
To me, this quote speaks to the essence of love as an act of connection and mutual discovery. When we love, we allow ourselves to be vulnerable and open, creating space to understand and be understood. It’s in those moments of connection that we see reflections of ourselves in the other - their joys, struggles, and strengths - and grow together.
Love is a choice to bridge the gap between two souls, finding meaning and shared experiences in that connection.
Tess Gigone
“To truly love we must learn to mix various ingredients - care, affection, recognition, respect, commitment, and trust, as well as honest and open communication.”
bell hooks
I’m convinced that RADICAL LOVE starts with deep and unconditional love with yourself, accepting and loving yourself just the way you are. Only then, can it be experienced with others.

I celebrate radical love by practicing self-love rooted in gratitude and patience. I anchor this practice in my daily routine with exercise and journaling. I celebrate by spending meaningful and intentional time with friends and family, whether in person, via text, or FaceTime.
And lastly, I celebrate radical love by advocating for the disabled, Black, and queer communities I belong to.
