LAURA REILLY & LISA GREEN

Laura Reilly is a New York city-based writer and editor, and the force behind the fashion and beauty newsletter Magasin. We have long admired her unique approach to style, minimal and unfussy ~ yet always with an element of unexpected intrigue.

How will you be spending your December holidays this year?

The end of November is my busiest time for work, so after that push I'm usually inclined to lay low for a bit. We'll probably get into nature for a few days early on, and we're looking forward to being in Mexico City for New Year's at the end of the month. In between, I anticipate a lot of soups and sweets (from Brooklyn Baklava, no doubt) while rotating through Brooklyn from one friend's place to another's.

Are there any local spots you frequent over the holidays that have become a holiday ritual for you?

My birthday falls in early December, so we often use it as an excuse for a pre-holiday getaway to go Upstate. Not quite "local," but we almost always stop by Gadaleto's for seafood, Smoke House of the Catskills for venison sausage, and Kingston Wine Co, where I cross my fingers for some Anders Steen.

What is your favorite restaurant to eat in over the holidays / favorite dish?

A couple years back, we got really into the kitschy tradition of Chinese food on Christmas, like any good New York Jew would. We over-order from Kings Co Imperial...the chicken dumplings with cinnamon sauce are a favorite, plus the cold sesame noodles and the Sichuan cucumbers.

What will you be bringing to holiday events this year?

A bottle of wine is always appropriate, but bringing your host something small-batch from Forthave spirits can be more memorable and more fun. It's part gift, part opportunity to keep the party going with a digestif over dessert.

What look or piece are you most looking forward to wearing this holiday season?

My style is gravitating further toward comfortable, incredibly made things that don't require much fuss. Obviously, this is the perfect season for just that. I'm really excited for a pair of Attersee Cocktail Pants I just ordered, which I anticipate solving every dressing roadblock, meanwhile whether I'm at home or out, I can't stop wearing these Lauren Manoogian Base Pants.

On her favorite AGMES Piece - The Large Astrid Cuff

After briefly venturing over to the silver side, I've realized that gold ultimately really is my metal. The Large Astrid, which celebrates gold in a bigger way than just my usual simple gold hoops, for that reason feels like a homecoming. It's funny how a subtle change can seem so momentous..

How will you be spending your December holidays this year?

Our December holidays are mostly spent at home in Byron Bay, we’ll spend long days at the beach to enjoy the sunshine. Bbq’s with friends and lots of relaxing!

What is your favorite holiday tradition?

My favourite tradition is spending time with my whole family over Christmas, cooking together, decorating our houses & gifting each other presents. We also love making our Nannas chocolate truffles & then all fighting over them because they are so delicious!

Are there any local spots you frequent over the holidays that have become a holiday ritual for you?

Yes so many! Topshop is a summer favourite for the best acai bowls & hot chips! Frankies for gelato, Beach Cafe for yummy burgers next to the beach & Moonlight for a habachi grill dinner & a glass of wine.

What is the best gift you’ve ever given?

The year our daughter Gigi was born, I gifted my husband a personalised record of the playlist we made & listened to during her birth. There’s even a sweet photo of her on the front of it & he loved it so so much!

I bought a projector for my husband last year and we’ve had the nicest cinema nights at home with it. In the courtyard during the summer, and in our living room area in the winter. The baby also loves it.

What is your favorite restaurant to eat in over the holidays / favorite dish?

I love eating at Raes on Wategoes in Byron. They do the most beautiful oysters & aperol spritz and it’s always the best summer vibe !! I also love it so much because you can go there in your swimmers after the beach or you can go all dressed up with the girls & either way feels so great.

What look or piece are you most looking forward to wearing this holiday season?

I’m looking forward to wearing lots of silver accessories this holiday season, it’s time to bring out all of the shiny & sparkly pieces.

Lisa’s favorite AGMES style: the Small Imogen Earrings

I just adore these earrings! The unique shape and the pearl details are so beautiful, they’ll be sure to jazz up my outfits over the festive season
